Happy Thursday DAMES!!! I'm not sure what day this is on my "snocation" but I've enjoyed every minute of it!!! I made the executive decision today to move "command central" ie: my office/bed/dinnertable/everything down the street to OUTWRITE bookstore and cafe a few blocks down the icy road. Out write is a B/L/Bi/TG bookstore located on the very gay 10th street in ATL... I love coming here although I must admit I normally don't get that much work done because I'm too busy people watching....Today I'm watching boys who are pretending to be working and reading look for potential hookup's!! HILARIOUS... I mean really sir you can't read if every two seconds your face peers up from the book to stare at the gentleman who isn't paying you any attention at the table next to you. Anyway with all that going on it reminded m of an oldie but goodie that I just redownloaded on itunes.
Hope you enjoy!!! xoxo PelarThursday, January 13, 2011

*Girls who like Girls: Photog edition!*
Canadian photographer Lynsie Roberts proves time and time again that the camera is not only a object but an extended part of her body like a third eye... Her shots always seem to capture the essence of her models and always make ME feel like I want to jump right in and live in her pictures... You will definitely be seeing more of this DAME!!! Here is one of my favorite spreads from her entitled: "The Mad Madam's Tea Party"
*The Last Frontier: Colored Eyebrows!*
Hello DAMES and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! There's so much to look forward to when a new year arrives and this one is no different so firstly I'd like to say make sure you make this year YOUR BEST YEAR, and if you can't don't worry there's always next year!!!
Anyway I came across the Balenciago Fall 2010 show and I was blown away with the....EYEBROWS!!! A close second was the fashion but as I scrolled through the pictures I kept thinking WOW how cool colored eyebrows!!! Mine are close to being nonexsistent BUT I would love to try this look out for a special occasion....

MY DAMES ARE ALL HIGH ROLLERS!
*Fashion Spread Spotlight*
Preview Magazine/September 2010 issue/"High Roller"/photographer: BJ Pascual
I know this spread is a few months old but it reminded me so much of the art exhibit I was just at on Saturday and my previous post to this one. Not to mention the model is beautiful and the clothes are A-MAZING! Check out the high rolling, fit for royalty, past meets present fashion in this spread: {This spread is sooo DAME appropriate! Loves it! Enjoy!}

A Fashion Blast From the Past!
Happy Monday Lovely DAMES! Mondays are always hard... trust me I can relate... but I hope your weekend was most enjoyable!
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of taking in some 18th Century European Fashion at the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). The exhibit was called Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700 - 1915 in the Resnick Pavilion running Oct. 2, 2010 through March 27, 2011.
The exhibit was inspiring, engaging, and really beautiful. If you love fashion, then you can also appreciate the history of fashion and it's evolution over time. I was blown away by the delicate beading, intricate sewing, and masterful embroidery of many of the garments with impeccable finish, might I add, that they were able to accomplish WITHOUT any of the advanced machinery we use today - most of the work was by hand! Amazing to say the least! I also appreciated seeing how many of the design techniques and even fashion styles/trends of the 1700 - 1900s are still being used today!

Check out the black leather corset and the thigh-high, lace-up 'fetish' boots (to the left)! Oh so Sexy!

Happy Belated 2011 to all the Lovely DAMES!
Happy 2011! Another year has past and there are so many things to be grateful for that happened in 2010 and even more to look forward to in 2011. I hope you all enjoyed great company, food, and wine during the Holidays! I know I did! I had an especially good time with my family and friends. I had a blast playing with my niece and nephew and I can't wait for the arrival of my third niece of nephew anytime this month. Check out a couple of my holiday pics:
And...A Mini DAME in training... introducing to the world... my niece... Elise Wiley Caldwell!!! {Applause}
Isn't she irresistibly cute... and fashionable!!! As if I would have it any other way ;).
Now... Most of you probably made New Years Resolutions but me, myself... I've become a little disenchanted with investing in New Years Resolutions... mainly because I find myself and many others failing to live up to them! So what's the point! I've decided, instead of making a New Year's Resolution every year, once a year, that I would take the opportunity everyday to set and achieve a personal or professional goal, however small or big, every day (or at least one a week). Each goal with the idea in mind to make me a better person - daughter, friend, lover, businesswoman, blogger, fashionista ;), entrepreneur, etc.! I challenge you DAMES to do the same... Rather than making shallow promises to ourselves to lose 20 pounds, quit drinking, or get organized - once a year... Challenge yourself to take advantage of every day, every week, every month, every year and the next (God willing) to be at your best, NOT just because it's the first day of a new year... that way self improvement becomes your way of life... not just 'once a year' tradition or ritual.

"The Boss of Burlesque" at the Roxy!
For All My Burlesque DAMES!
Last week I had the pleasure of witnessing the Burlesque greatness that is Dita Von Teese aka "The Boss of Burlesque" live at the legendary Roxy Theatre on Sunset for her "Strip Strip Hooray" tour. As many of you may know, Dita is one of the most recognizable and acclaimed burlesque dancers/performers of our time. I missed her show in Vegas, so I was not gonna miss out on the opportunity to see her right here in LA! It was my first time seeing her in action... and I must say the entire show was great! The costumes were gorgeous, the show was theatrical, and the dance was seductive. Her show definitely incorporates the vintage appeal and style of the original burlesque dancers of the 1950s, which I could definitely appreciate - it was glamorous, flirty, and most of all sexy. I enjoyed the show so much that I attended 2 out of the 3 days the show was running in LA! Ha! She performed on stage 3 separate times: on a 'merry-go-round' horse, in a bath tub (hott!!!!!), and on a bull riding training device. She also brought along 5 special guests/burlesque performers complete with a large, curvy women by the name of "Dirty Martini", a 'little woman' with a Legalize LA theme, and a man with a amputated female mannequin leg - a very diverse and interesting bunch to say the least - LOL! Overall a great and entertaining show! BRAVO DITA! - a certified DAME chic ;)
Check out some of the Exclusive pics and footage from the show, courtesy of DAME.
